Do you take your time to eat your meal away from distractions like the tv? You should savour every mouthful. Stop when you are satisfied and not when you are full. The brain needs time to register that it?s satisfied.

Make sure you drink plenty of water. This is so important for weight loss.

Snack with healthy snacks between each meal. This will ensure that you don?t overeat at mealtimes and will keep your metabolism kicking along. As a snack it could be 2 big spoons of humous and a celery stick.

Reduce your portion size by choosing a smaller plate. Get your stomach used to smaller portions. This will not happen immediately so be patient and persist. As well as readjusting your portions, take plenty of protein and fibre and limit your carbohydrates.

Never skip breakfast – start the day with a high protein breakfast.

Avoid fizzy drinks they tend to be higher in sugars.

Make exercise part of your routine. It should involve some level of high intensity. Walk whenever you can ? take the stairs, park further away from your destination.

Don?t confuse hunger for thirst. When you feel hungry, opt for a glass of water first. If you can?t tolerate water, add lemon, lime, orange or cucumber slices for a great taste.

Remember to take each day at a time, setting yourself a realistic and achievable goal
